Encaustics

Adding encaustics (beeswax, resin and pigment) to my work has provided a new possibilities for the materials I use.

I was first attracted to the medium because it used a flame and as I was used torch work with glass, applying it to a hot wax medium was a natural development.

Whether applied to the wood I use for my mini sculptural forms or a background for larger mosaic pieces, encaustics has become a medium that jazzes up the backgrounds to my three dimensional work and brings more colour and texture to my mosaic work.
