Having worked in glass for many years, the switch to mosaic from flame work was a delightful challenge! Starting from scratch, I went on to taking as many courses as I felt I needed to become proficient, including flying to the UK and to Italy to the mosaic school in Ravenna, Online courses have been especially helpful and I am so grateful to Tami Macala’s Mosaics Online artists who share their skills and techniques.
I was amazed at how many ways there are to use different materials to make mosaic from traditional to very contemporary expressions of the artform. It has become a journey of discovery and delight as I experiment and try new things while incorporating the age old principals of traditional tesserae application for mosaic.
